Here and Now

The Physicists tell us th= at the Universe has no center and no edge. I’m not so sure; it all depends on what you mean by “center” and “edge”, or so it seems to me.

For example, consider a sphere. The sphere has a cent= er and an edge, if you can consider the surface to be an edge; but the surface has= no center and no edge. However, = if you place your finger at some point on the surface, then you can say that that = point is the center of the surface. Then move your finger to another point, and you can assert that the center of the surface lies there. In fact, wherever you point to on the surface of the sphere, you can assert that the= re lies the center of the surface. The surface of the sphere has no UNIQUE center; it has an infinite number of centers.

As for the surface having= an edge, it has no Unique edge, it is ALL edge in t= hat it defines the extent of the sphere itself.

Now, let us consider the geometry of the Universe. Thi= s is not to imply that the Universe is spherical in geometry, but we can use ana= logy to consider structure. When we survey the sky in the microwave spectrum, it is revealed that, within the r= ange of the fluctuations that define the “roughness” of the Universe= at the time light separated from matter, the “temperature” of the microwave radiation in all directions is the same, once the dipole difference = due to the Earth’s motion through space is subtracted out.=

The implication of this i= s that Earth stands at the center of the Universe! This would be an absurd conclusion, except for the obvious fact that, no matter where one stands within the Universe, the Cosmic Microwave Radiation would appear the same, except for a difference in the deg= ree of the Proper Motion Dipole Shift, which is different for different objects. Just as in the case of the surface= of the sphere, wherever one may be is the center of the Universe; HERE IS THE CENTER O= F THE UNIVERSE! Since this is true = for all observers, this also implies that the Center of the Universe is Within each of us!

The Native American Shama= ns acknowledge 7 directions, namely up and down, (or Heaven and Earth), left= and right (or East and West), front and back (or North and South), and Inward.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Since each of the dipoles collapse= s into one of the 3 axes of the Spatial Dimensions, this implies that the directio= n of the 4^th Spatial Dimension is inward, in keeping with the aforementioned conclusion.

Next we must consider whe= ther the Universe has an edge. Spatially, we cannot detect one.&nb= sp; Telescopes are useless for this task, because no matter where we loo= k, all we can see is the PAST. It should be apparent that the edge of the Universe cannot lie in the past. In fact, NOW is as far as the Univ= erse has gotten. The Edge of the Universe is a function of Time, not of Space. NOW is the Edge of the Universe.

There is much discussion = about the Arrow of Time, questioning why such an artifact is not implicit in the equations describing Physical processes.&n= bsp; The answer to these questions may lie in the fact that the question = has not been properly posed. The = fact is, that IT IS ALWAYS NOW! It= is not time that has an arrow, but Processes that have an arrow.

I/We do not and cannot wi= thin the framework of Space/Time experience anything other than HERE AND NOW. But, we must ask whether NOW is invariant or relative, and if relative, relative to what? For understanding of this, we must= turn to Enistein’s Theory of Relativity.<= /o:p>

Consider the well known e= xample of the identical twins, one of whom remains on Earth while the other goes traveling through space at nearly the speed of light. Before the trip, the twins have a farewell party. Both experien= ce the same HERE AND NOW. Then the traveling twin takes off. Wit= hout pinning ourselves down to specific velocities and durations, we can agree t= hat the twin who stays home will experience more NOW than the twin who travels. This will be reflect= ed in the fact that the Earthbound twin will age more = than the travelling twin. They each experience a different “quantity” of NOW.

When the traveler returns= , the twins will exhibit different degrees of aging, but will, when reunited, both exist in the same NOW, although they have experienced different lengths of “Time”. This sugg= ests that NOW is invariant under all transformations, both Spatial and Temporal. Each twin was, duri= ng the duration of his experience, experiencing life at the Edge of the Universe!<= o:p>

No matter where you go, T= HERE you are! And THEN is when! To quote an Old Admonition; “HERE & NOW, BOYS, HERE AND NOW= !”
